The Los Angeles Angels and the New York Yankees will meet for game two of their three-game set this Tuesday in Anaheim from Angel Stadium on the MLB Network. The Angels snuck away with a walkoff victory in game one, 4-3.

Yankees Betting Preview

New York moved to 50-45 after losing to LAA. The Yankees have now dropped seven of their last nine Games, and they have to stop the bleeding soon if they’d like to remain in the playoff picture in the toughest division in all of pro Sports. The New York offense is scoring 3.87 runs per Game, while batting .230, with a .298 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.87 ERA, with a 1.25 WHIP. Gleyber Torres has multiple hits in five straight Games, and he’s leading NYY in hits (89), while posting a line of .259/13/39. Anthony Rizzo has collected a hit in four of the last five Games, and he’s averaging splits of .257/11/39. Giancarlo Stanton homered twice in the Colorado series, and he’s up to eleven home runs and 29 RBI for the season. 

Domingo German (5-5, 4.32 ERA, 92 Ks) will get the ball for New York. The sixth-year righty closed the first half strong by tossing nine strikeouts in six innings against Chicago. German has dealt with a lot of ups and downs this season, but if he replicates his previous effort in California, the Yankees may be fine. German tossed a flawless perfect Game in Oakland at the end of June, and while he won’t repeat that performance here, that’s the kind of energy the Yanks will need from him to help slow this skid.

Angels Betting Preview 

Los Angeles moved to 47-48 after defeating New York. The Angels pulled off a timely walkoff win at home last night, and they’ll look to build on that Tuesday.  The LAA offense is scoring 4.16 runs per Game, while batting .252, with a .331 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.33 ERA, with a 1.27 WHIP. Shohei Ohtani provided a Game-tying homer last night, and he leads the AL in home runs (35), with team-leads in hits (109), batting (.306) and RBI (75). Hunter Renfroe recorded multiple hits in the first two matchups against the Astros, and he’s posting splits of .250/15/42. Mike Trout and Brandon Drury remain glaring absences from the Angels lineup.

Pablo Sandoval (4-7, 4.41 ERA, 70 Ks) will make the start for Los Angeles. The fifth-year flamethrower closed an inconsistent first half by holding the Padres to one run through five innings in San Diego. Sandoval had allowed three runs or more in four of the five starts prior, but there’s hope he can pitch better after the break. 

New York vs Anaheim Trends

New York is 49-45 against the spread this season, with a 41-49-4 O/U record. LA Angels are 43-51 ATS this year, with a 45-42-7 over/under record.

There’s a bigger cloud hovering over this contest than Shohei Ohtani trade rumors, and it’s the struggles in the New York clubhouse. This Aaron Judge injury had completely altered the Yankees season, and they find themselves in an unfamiliar free fall in the toughest division there is. If the Halos get a steady effort from Pablo Sandoval, they can make things worse for the Yanks, and I like their chances again here in this pick ‘em slot. There’s more security in spotting LAA the runs here, so let’s go that route Tuesday night for Game two.
